Have you ever felt resentful of someone who got paid more than you and did far less work?   Have you ever been irritated with a boss who gave another employee far greater consideration or showed greater sympathy for their problems than you thought they should?  And surely more than you thought was reasonable?

Well, then you might not at first like today’s Scripture reading today from Matthew 20:1-16.  Here Jesus contrived a situation with a manager and some day employees he hired at different parts of the day, and yet chose to pay them all the same living wage at the end of the day.  Jesus reveals his imagination to us here, and helps us see God’s Kindom ways, and reminds us we too can celebrate vicariously with others when we have enough and through God’s grace there is also enough for everyone else to live, too.
