3rd Sunday After Pentecost - Pride Sunday

Jun 14, 2026    Rev. Aaron Hobbs

On this Pride Sunday we celebrate with joy the boundary-busting love, and ever-widening embrace of God that we get to experience in the midst of community.  Today’s reading comes from Acts 8 and is about the deacon Philip’s encounter with an Ethiopian Eunuch.  Eunuchs in ancient times were typically men who were castrated and then placed in positions of power working closely with women leaders.  This was seen as a hedge against temptation.  And while Eunuchs held power they were also seen as less than and unclean by religious leaders of the time.  So today we looked at how the Spirit often goes before us, and sends us out to those the world sees as outsiders.
