16th Sunday of Pentecost

Sep 28, 2025    Rev. Aaron Hobbs

We continue our 3-week focus on prayer in the midst of difficult days. This week we hear Jesus' parable of the persistent widow. It is an example not of easy prayer, but the kind of prayer that shakes things up, that agitates the unjust judge, prayer that keeps on knocking, keeps on pushing, and keeps on testifying even in the face of silence. It is in solidarity and through a collective outcry with all who the widow still represents today that communal honesty emerges and God's justice is nourished within us through prayer. Together in prayer we can discern what we can do, what we need God to do, and where we receive strength and encouragement to endure injustice in the meantime.
