Today we heard an often quoted scripture where Jesus instructs his challengers, "To give to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to give to God what is God’s.” This passage is frequently used as justification for imperial cooperation and the blessing of the ways of empire, but Jesus had something else altogether in mind with his response. So today we remembered that ALL people are created Imago Dei - in the image of God - and therefore, all of life is God’s.
