We continue our "Oh, Hell No: 40 Days of Resistance" sermon series this week with a sermon entitled, "Righteous Resistance to Weaponized Trust.”
Trust is holy. We cannot survive without it. But when trust in God, trust in leaders, and trust in institutions is turned into a leash, when “just trust” is used to silence questions, excuse harm, or keep people in their place, that is not the gospel. That is weaponized trust. In worship today, we sang, prayed, and listened for the God who sees Hagar in the wilderness, the God who calls us out of fear based religion and into courageous, Spirit filled discernment.
