12th Sunday After Pentecost
In worship this week we struggle together with some of the divisions that are currently facing us in America, and how Jesus, who is the Bread of Life, can sustain us on the journey ahead. Lately, there have been lot of questions asked by people who are wondering about Christian nationalism, and if there is a way back for those who might have initially been intrigued by its promises, but who now aren't so sure. Your own friends and family members may want out of this destructive ideology, but perhaps pride in admitting a mistake, uncertainty about where to go next, or a fear of being accepted back keeps them stuck. How can we be clear that Christian nationalism is not Christian because it is prioritizes a domination system of power, control, and division (which are contrary to the Gospel ways of Jesus Christ which overthrow the domination system with love, compassion, justice, and unity) while also still offering a landing place of grace for those trying to return? This is an important question that God is calling us to try to answer for the good of us all.
