20th Sunday After Pentecost

"Do Unto Others Series Week 1: Kindness" - Today we begin a bold and brave worship series in which we face the spiritual consequences of the divisions in our society.  I want to begin with a question: Do you believe God’s desire for all who God has created and loves is our collective flourishing?  I hope so because this reality makes us kin.  The word “kindness” originally developed from a root word that meant “family or familial affection”.  We begin this series considering the implications of spending so much of our time feeling estranged from, and resentful toward those who God has made our kin.  And we begin to dream of finding a “purple space” in which to exchange goodness.
