Rev. Aaron Hobbs, MDiv.
Sr. Pastor
Rev. Aaron Hobbs is the 37th Sr. Pastor of Broadway United Methodist Church. He began his appointment in July of 2020 in the midst of the COVID-19 global pandemic. Aaron and his family are excited to be part of making God’s beloved community visible with the people of Broadway.
Aaron received a B.S. in Education from Indiana University, and a M.Div from Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary, where he was a Presidential Scholarship recipient. He completed Clinical Pastoral Education at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, and was a member of Cohort 4 of the Wabash Pastoral Leadership Program.
He currently serves on the INUMC Central District Operational Team, and is a member of the Collaborative Community of Practice, IU Health’s Maternal Child Health Project for Congregations, and the Path4You Community Advisory Board for Reproductive Justice. Aaron is also currently the Treasurer for the Indiana Poor People's Campaign, Vice President of the Hoosier IAC International AIDS Conference Scholarship Fund, member of the International AIDS Society, and is continuing the HIV advocacy of his dear friend and colleague, Professor Harold S. Brown, Jr., who passed away on April 7, 2024.
Before arriving at Broadway, Aaron served for 9 years as a pastor at Noblesville First United Methodist Church. In 2016 he founded Teter Organic Farm on a 120-acre parcel of church-owned land with a mission to “combat food insecurity, to build community through meaningful relationships across barriers that sometimes divide us, and to educate children and adults on the importance of environmental stewardship and care.” Over 5 seasons Aaron worked to cultivate the gifts of the farm’s neighbors and congregation members to grow 40 varieties of USDA certified organic vegetables on 4 acres of land and in 3 greenhouses (one of which was dedicated in 2020 as "The Hobbs Hoop House" in his honor).
Aaron has also served appointments at St. Paul-Brightwood UMC & the Brightwood Community Center in Indianapolis (2001-2002), Sunrise at Geist UMC (2002-2003), New Market UMC & Waveland Covenant UMC (2-point charge from 2003-2007), and Fishers UMC (2007-2011).
For fun Aaron loves to read, play golf, ski, take road trips with his family, listen to live music, and watch his favorite sports teams (Chelsea FC, AC Milan, Purdue, Indiana Pacers & Fever, Chicago Cubs, LA Dodgers, and Indianapolis Colts).
Rev. Hobbs is married to Michele Justus-Hobbs who is a third grade teacher, public education advocate, and mentor. Aaron and Michele are the proud parents of Emma Hobbs who is a fun loving 16-year-old. Aaron’s mother is a retired United Methodist pastor living in Florida (with his father), and his Brother-in-Law (his only sister Amber’s husband) is currently the Sr. Pastor of Avon United Methodist Church.
