12th Sunday After Pentecost

Jesus is being watched by the religious authorities, but Jesus is also watching the watchers. In today's Gospel reading from Luke, Jesus observes the banquet and then offers two suggestions - one to the guests about seating arrangements and one to hosts about invitations. In doing so, Jesus again provides examples of how the ways of God are in direst opposition to the ways of empire, both then and now.
